A 1,600 square kilometer park with tropical forests, caves, mangroves, and isolated beaches. Over 100 rare bird species some of which are indigenous to the Dominican Republic can be seen here. You are picked up by your guide early in the morning and taken to board a boat which brings you through the variety of small island/rock formations, mangroves and three different caves that still have Taino pictographs from the pre-Columbian era. These caves were later used by pirates to hide from authorities.

The trip includes a Dominican lunch either on Cayo Levantado (Bacardi) Island with its picturesque view of Santa Barbara de Samana, or at Caño Hondo and its natural swimming pools. Just specify your preference to your receptionist when you make your reservation. This is a full day excursion to be booked in advance. Great for bird watching.

Every year between the 15th of January and the 15th of March, thousands of humpback whales migrate to the warm Samana bay waters for their mating season. Male humpbacks, more active during this time, are sometimes seen leaping out of the water in an effort to impress the females.
You are picked up at the hotel by your guide and taken to the dock in Santa Barbara de Samana where the excursion boat is boarded. After observing the whales a stop is made at Cayo Levantado (Bacardi) Island for lunch and a beautiful view of the Samana coast. The trip ends with your guide accompanying you back to the Hotel. As the demand is high, reserving in advance is recommended. This is a full day excursion.
